Recap Week 13

Judge Smails Cup 2nd round results

Match 1 Finn and Walsh vs James.... I played behind this match and it wasn't pretty for the defending champion TJ. His tee shot on one was a dribbler, but managed to somehow halve the hole. TJ was playing solo, the extra shots didn't help as he just came of the DL to try and gut this one out against Finn and Walsh who were licking their chops. TJ fell behind early and was done after 7.

Match 2 Stefanick playing solo against the Willards... I got to the course early to see Greg Willard down on the range with a couple of buckets. He needed to step up if he and Dad were going to beat the ever tough Stefanick straight up. Stefanick put the peddle to the meddle and finished them off with a birdie on 6 to go 4 up with 3 to play. The dreams of the father and son team of holding the cup have vanished into the sunset.

Match 3 Larosa and Bradley vs J. MacNeil and Curtis... MacNeil feeling unbeatable after taking down Goliath in round 1 ran into a buzz saw. Larosa came with his A game and that spells trouble for any opponent. Bradley chipped in early with an unlikely birdie on 2 after hitting his tee shot into the trap, he got his 2nd shot back into play and hit a 200 yard 3rd shot to 8 feet and sank the putt. Larosa chips in for birdie on 3 and has MacNeil shaking his head and with an Irish whisper cursing his opponent. MacNeil and Curtis battled to stay 1 down coming to the 9th and needing the magic of the week before could not make birdie to end the match.

Match 4 Dillon and Poverman vs Meyer and Tracy ....Meyer and Tracy fell into a deep hole dropping the 1st 3 holes. A time out was called to regroup with a motivational speech. It worked as the match was all square coming to the 9th. Don and Marshall both parred and with Ted and John needing to sink their putts to extend the match, they each bogeyed and their dreams too went down in flames.

Match 5 Aronson and Mark Nolan vs Raynard and Mercado....Aronson pars 1 and Nolan birdies 2 to take a quick 2 up lead. Mecardo got one back on 3, but Aronson gets it right back on 4. Mecardo again cuts it to 1 on 5 and it stayed that way until 9 when, Mecardo says to Raynard I'm gonna have to bring out the blade cut these two to win. Raynard talks him out of it and Aronson, playing steady pars the 9th to take the match and move on.

Congratulation to all the winners.
The committee has gotten together and decided that we now have 5 teams left and all deserve to be here, but it's an odd number and the only fair way to get down to 4 teams is to have each team play against their quotas next week and the team that is worse against their quotas will be eliminated. Play with you normal group and good luck.
