Recap Week 10

The teams and match-ups have been posted for the Judge Smails Cup starting on the 13th. Just a reminder to bring your checkbook for second half dues, cash is also accepted, and I checked we do not take food stamps.
Round of the week goes again to Billy Karas who topped last weeks performance and put up 19 points with 2 birdies, unfortunately they did not hold up, but still collected top and team money.
Runner Up goes to Mike McNeice who's 77 for 18 did not go unnoticed.
I had a putt on 7 that if I tried 100 times I probably would not make it again, but from the right side of the green I sent it up and the only thing that was going to stop it from rolling off the green was the cup and it did for a birdie that barely held as Lyons had an uphill putt that rimmed the cup.
I had the camera out again to try and get a few more action shots that are now posted. Members seem to like this as they can see where corrections need to be made in their swings. I'll keep the camera rolling.
I'm sitting at the 19th hole and see what looks to be John Fay carrying a man purse. "Not that there's anything wrong with that".

Recap Week 9

The Summer Solstice is now in our rear view mirror, we come upon the half way mark of the SIGL season. Rich McKenna after a slow start is now in full swing looking to birdie every hole he plays and having a lot of success made 3 more birdies and 2 were the toughest holes on the front, 1 and 7. He takes over the money leader board.
Billy Karas won top honors with 18 points. He and Frank Larosa exchanged pleasantry once again with Larosa greeting him with hello grumpy and Billy responding with you fat bastard. I was feeling the love.
TJ came off the DL and it looks like the back is still bothering him. Last years Judge Smails Cup winner will have a hard time repeating without a personal masseuse on hand.
Lyons played with McKenna and Ed MacNeil and took 18 holes of verbal harassment from MacNeil.
Bradley needed a couple of cold ones to clear his head. He went brain dead on 15 when he smashed his cart into Larosa's.
Walsh got out the funnel to transfer beer from can to bottle in protest of course policy of only drinking Easton CC beer.
I have a non golf comment of World Cup Soccer. I'd rather watch lesbian women synchronize swimming.
I took some pictures and videos of some the members. The videos I'll try to send to each individual and I'll post some pictures.
Week 10 ends the 1st half so we will need 2nd half dues paid for by Week 11. The fee is $275 payable either in cash or by check to SIGL. The birdie pool is also due which is $20 please pay Frank Larosa.
Next week I will post the teams for the mid-year tournament which will start Week 12.
I will explain how it works to all the new members.

Recap Week 8

Where was all youse guys? We finally have a beautiful night, and we get 13 no shows. That's OK, more dough for the year-end tourney.
A lot of good scoring tonight, with at least three +5s, but that was not good enough 'cause top gun Rich McKenna has the engine running on all cylinders now with a remarkable 22 points for +6, which included three birds in the league nine. A good night for Mike McNeice with a crisp 78, and Brian Murphy is starting to come out of a black hole with a chip-in for par, and another one for birdie.

Apparently Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms agents were out in full force on the course tonight as two groups were caught red-handed with contraband alcoholic beverages. The course policy is that only alcoholic beverages purchased from Easton C.C. may be brought out on the course, so please be aware of this.

Prior to interrogation from said agents, Rick Walsh managed to snag CTP on the 4th hole. Rick, the $10 prize will buy you 2 and a half officially-sanctioned beers from the beverage cart.

Bino is fresh off his three-day, turn-my-golf-game-around seminar at Stow Acres, and tonight, he got to the first tee with thoughts of square the club...bend the knees...take the club back low and slow....keep your shoulder back....swing out to right field....It does not compute, system overload, abort...abort ..... well let's just say I got a nice golf cap out of it.

Bradley is looking for the rain to come back... he plays better. Larosa was knocking the pin down with birdies on 3 and 5 on the front and 16 and 18 on the back. Lyons is looking for the cart girl before the round starts.

Another shout-out to Jerry Berke who is now in the hospital with pneumonia, after having broken his hip and leg. Jerry, hang in there, and don't forget that we are all pulling for you.

Also, if any member has any comments or anything else that they want to contribute to the website, then send it along to the webmaster and you too can become a published author.

Recap Week 7

While Bino was refining his golf game on the sylvan links of Stow Acres, the rest of us were again holding our breath when a hailstorm unloaded on us early. But skies cleared and we were good to go. The salty curmudgeon Billy Karas had a fine night and took Individual. Frank LaRosa was a Team winner and had the round of the night with 15 pars and 3 bogies for a 74. Rich McKenna is just getting into midseason form with a second straight CTP and a paying birdie. Watch this name to steadily move up the leader board. Nice to see Paul Raynard and Greg Willard have birdies that lived. The 8th hole was TKOed. Next week's CTP is the 4th Hole. In another few weeks, we will begin the match play tourney. To make scheduling easier, you will be partnered with one of your regular playing partners and in the first round play the other two in your regular group. We will provide more details later.

Our thoughts and best wishes go out to long time SIGLer and all-around good guy Jerry Berke who is recuperating from a recent mishap that resulted in a broken hip and leg. Get well soon Jerry, and drop by when you are able.

If any of the words in this recap are too difficult here is a website you can go to.

I'm back from the woods of Stow as I set out on a 3 day lesson with 1 to go to try and find my game. I get to play in the rain on Thursday with the pro, this is what I was looking for. Show me how to hit the frigging ball in the rain. God knows I had enough practice with no luck at Easton. Time will tell if this helps me.
See ya next Tuesday.

Recap Week 6

I entered the Easton CC parking lot knowing I would need my rain gear once again, after all it is Tuesday. We boarded the Duck Boat other wise known as the golf cart not knowing when the rain would come. We were about as far away from the club house as we could get on 2. The thunder and lightning just over head and 4 of us sitting in our boats mumbling a few Hail Mary's. I looking over and see our fearless leader b-lining it down the 5th fairway in a moving tin can and water splashing like a ride at water world. Walsh and Finn were next to make the daring drive back, but foolishly we sit under a tree waiting for it to fall on us and luckily I sit here to write about it. The cart Nazi made an appearance to warn us the club is not responsible if we get struck by lightning and to stay on the cart paths. "Thanks Mark". The round continued with Bradley refusing to quit, having his best round of the year and finishing the full 18 with mosquito's feasting on our exposed skin.
Stefanick didn't let the rain bother him as he collected top honors with his best round. Two birdies held with Barry and Curtis splitting the pot. The mid-year tournament otherwise known as the Judge Smails Cup is coming and details will be in the coming weeks.

After further review: As hard as it is to believe, we made a mistake on the Closest to Pin award this week. Rich McKenna came in with 5 feet 2 inches for the prize, and will get a sawbuck for his efforts. Like in Monopoly, Mike McNeice will still get $10 for Bank Error. Can I take a mulligan on this one?
