Green is starting to peek back through in the yard, and we all know that in the spring, an old man's thoughts turn to golf. SIGL opening day will be Tuesday, May 2nd.

Although greens fees will be going up in 2017 for the general public, Easton has generously agreed to keep SIGL rates the same as last year. So the fee for this year will remain at $630. This includes 20 weeks of golf, weekly prize money, year-end tourney prize money, and a banquet. Easton CC members will pay $130. Please have the first half payment on the first night. Last year, we paid out $4,245 in weekly prize money, and $3,995 at the year-end tourney, resulting in $8,240 awarded, or $147 per SIGL member.

We would like to welcome Dan McGarry, Steve Danieli, and Martin Enright into the SIGL family as new members. With the affable Terry Moore of merry ole England a veteran league member, and Mr. Enright hailing from the Emerald Isle, SIGL is finally going international in scope. And we are very happy to report that after 30? years of indentured servitude at the U.S.P.S., which always messed with his golf schedule, our old pal Bino will be retiring and will be returning to the SIGL fold.

The year-end tournament is pencilled in for Sunday, October 1st. Due to the popularity of early fall golf tournaments at Easton, and many dates already taken, we have to reserve a date early. If this turns out to be a scheduling conflict with a Pats home game that some players want to attend, then that is just a rub of the green/gridiron.

And a shout-out to our buddy John Tracy who co-won the popular year-long elimination football pool based out of Easton. Starting with 104 contenders, at the end of the schedule, there were only two left standing, and the counselor proudly took home half of the handsome pot. In addition to our undeniable golfing skills, SIGLers were quite successful in the (for recreational purposes only) betting game last year. With TJ and this humble hacker winning two out of four of the golf majors pools, this means that SIGLers won three out of five pools in 2016.

If you have any questions, or will not be playing this year, please e-mail me or call at 508-742-5355.

And finally, we were looking forward to the return of the Brazilian T and As for our opening day extravaganza, but unfortunatley they were all denied visas, and won't be able to make it. But not to worry, because I think we have found more than suitable replacements.

See you in May or hopefully sooner.
