SIGL Update for 2014

Welcome back lady and gentlemen. Hard to believe, but we're about to start our 35th year of SIGL, most of those at Easton Country Club; Southern New England's premier wedding and golf destination.
Opening night is Tuesday, April 29th. As usual, we will officially have the tee from about 3:30 to 5:00, but groups that want to go early are encouraged to do so, subject to tee-time availability. (Call ahead for a tee time.)

I have talked to my good friends at The Farmer's Almanac, and they have assured me that there will be perfect weather every Tuesday - somewhere. So let's hope it is at Easton.

For those of you who have indicated that they have friends who want to join, they must contact us in order to sign up. There are limited spots, and they can't just show up on opening night. Have them contact us with name, rank and serial number, I mean, name, phone number, and e-mail address.

Easton has gone up $1 on its greens fees, which would normally mean an increase of $20 for the year for SIGL members. However, we have sharpened our official league pencil and will keep the increase to $10, which means dues will be $620 for the year, birdie pool included or $580 without the birdie pool. Dues for Easton C.C. members will be $130/$90. Please have the first half payment ($310/$290 or $65/$45) ready on the first night.

The year-end tournament is scheduled for Sunday, September 28th. Please keep in mind that this date has to be reserved early, and the there are limited dates available due to Easton's heavy weekend tournament bookings, so if it turns out to be a conflict for anyone, sorry, but that's just the way it goes, and so two weeks before the tourney please don't ask us to reschedule. I think there is an area Mensa meeting planned that day, but that shouldn't present a problem for anyone in this league.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions or if you are not going to be playing. (Complaint e-mails will be funneled directly into the spam file and are deleted unread after 30 days. I'm only kidding; 45 days.)

So it's time to get warmed up for opening night. Our tried and true method of preparation is a regimen of daily stretching, a large bucket of balls a day, 15 minutes of Zen meditation  (mantra: be the ball), and a weekly visit to the Finnish Steam Bath in Quincy, which because of all the competition from Asian massage parlors, is now known as the Happy Finnish Steam Bath.

See you in April !
