Overall, we had a mediocre night, with 20 players exceeding quota, 9 right on their number, but 25 making a negative impression.

However, the always productive Mike McNeice put it into overdrive this week when he posted his career low frontside with a 35, good for 22 points and 1st Individual.

Also with a career day, Rick Walsh posted his highest point total ever with 17, also good for a super +8 (losing to Mike in a card-off.)

And Dylan Amaral, who was mired in mediocrity for most of the year, has really turned it on recently and this week carded his best SIGL nine with a sterling +7 and 3rd Individual.

Dylan also had the best partner, when alternate Nick Dejesus was slotted in with him, contributing his own +4 for an unbeatable +11 for 1st Team honors.

Mr. McNeice's partner, Chris Regan did not hurt him with an even quota round, so their combined +8 will take 2nd Team.

Ed Finn has been playing great golf of late, but this week was not one of his best at -2. But with scoring partner Rick Walsh's career +8, the duo still managed to nab 3rd Team.

Peter Frasca went out early and posted a super 5'8" on the Closest to Pin 8th hole. Later, we had someone record a nifty 4'6" but neglected to identify himself, so Mr. Frasca will take the prize. We have 64 active players and there are many with the same first name. You cannot write down just your first name when we have multiple players by that first name, and expect us to identify you. We are not going to start privately e-mailing everyone with that name to see if it was them that got Closest. Nice shot though.

We had a very healthy 20 birdies on the front, but when the dust cleared, there was but one standing. When he sunk his putt for a 3 on the 5th, Steve Dasaro took the whole pot, while getting on the money board for the first time this year. Holes 2, 3, 4, 8, and 9 were all smashed, with 9 being birdied eight times.

In the Backnine skins pool, we had a more modest 10 birds and an eagle, with three surviving. After having his three birdies on the front smashed, Mike McNeice finally received a reward for his bird on 12, Chuck Mathieson bested all birdies on 13 with his eagle, and this humble hacker salvaged an otherwise disappointing round with a 3 on the 15th.

Outstanding scorers who did not cash are Chris Haslam at +5,  Dan Raymo at +4, and Tim Greene, Mike Silva, and Wayne Musgrove at +3. Mike McNeice was highpointer with 22 points.

And finally, Easton CC has informed us that the course will be closed for aeration on Tuesday, August 31st. With the two prior weather postponements that we have had, this will allow 19 weeks instead of 20 weeks for the season, since the year-end tourney is October 3rd. All funds not used to pay for Week 20 will be added to the year-end cash prizes.

  See you next Tuesday.

Well, we came back down to Earth this week after last week's stratospheric (good) scores, with results split pretty evenly between plus players, evens, and minuses. Of course, there is always a handful of real standouts, and this week's turn in the spotlight is headlined by Andrew Dugan who had his best day of the season with 17 points and a league-leading +6 for 1st Individual.

Trying to keep up with his friend and playing partner Andrew, Chris Haslam posted his best numbers to date, too with a +5 good for 2nd Individual.

We had a traffic jam for 3rd with Alex Turchette, Scott Silvia, Paul Raynard, and John Tracy all at +4. And a deep card-off reveals Mr. Silvia will get an envelope.

Chris Haslam had a good partner with Mark Spear's +2 and they will take 1st Team at +7.  Alex Turchette had one of his better nights at +4 and teamed with a nice +3 from Dylan Amaral to take 2nd Team at +7, after losing the card-off to Chris and Mark.

Andrew Dugan (+6) and Ned Babyak (E) will take a card-off win for 3rd Team over a valiant effort by Paul Raynard (+4) and Mark Nolan (+2).

Len Lima continues his good run, and this week will proudly accept payment for his fine shot into the CTP 6th hole to 8'2".  Playing partner Saul Payne, already in with his own birdie, was rooting for Len's bid to drop (no really) but it just missed.

After last week's amazing 24 birdies and an eagle, we toned it down a few notches with a very modest eight birdies on the front, with two paying off. Alex Turchette's envelope will be a little fatter with his excellent birdie on the 4th, and Saul Payne's deuce on 6 will take the other half of the pot. The 5th hole (Dejesus, Mark Nolan), the 7th (Dugan, Mathieson), and the 9th (Dugan, Sczcurko) were all smashed.

The only standouts who did not win money this week were John Tracy and Paul Raynard each at +4 and Ed Finn at +3. Highpointer was Andrew Dugan at 17 points.

We had only 27 entrants in the B9 skins pool, and only seven birdie bids found the hole, with two paying off.  Brian Murphy drilled an aggressive putt into the flagstick for a 3 on 11, and Chris Haslam topped off his day with a fine bird on 15. Smashed were 13 (M. Silva, Haslam, Dugan) and the 14th (Finn, Musgrove).

  See you next Tuesday.

Well, last week we played great, but apparently that was just a warm-up for what might be  the best scoring day in SIGL history. Congrats to Chris Regan (+11) who established what is thought to be a new all-time SIGL record by earning 25 points with an eagle, birdie, six pars, and a bogey, good for a 2 under par 34. (Career low, Chris?)

Jay Chapman had his best nine holes of golf in his career, SIGL or otherwise, when he sank three birdies on his way to a super 18 points, +11. Chris prevailed in a card-off for 1st Ind. and Jay will take 2nd.

Another having his best round in years, or maybe ever, was Mark Nolan coming in with 17 points and a +8, good for 3rd Ind.

Mr. Chapman had plenty of help for the Team competition from the red-hot Ed Finn, who threw a +5 Jay's way and they will take 1st Team at +16.

Mark Nolan was also ably assisted by partner Andrew Dugan's +4 and they will claim 2nd Team at +12.

And for 3rd Team, we have two fine +5 performances each from John Tracy and Rick Walsh. Their +10 is a card-off win over Regan +11/Svirsky -1.

There was plenty of space available all day with 23' the best CTP late into the day, but along came Scott Silvia who tightened that up significantly by dropping one to 3'11" to take the prize, and by sinking a skins putt to boot.

We had a fantastic 24 birdies and an eagle on the front, but only two will pay off. Scott's 2 on 4 will take half the pot, and Mr. Regan's eagle on the 9th trumped the four birds on that hole. Holes 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 were heavily smashed.

The Back Nine skins pool had a more modest 11 birds, and again, two will survive. Eric Aronson will be picking up an $83 envelope for his birdie on the 14th, and Chuck Mathieson finally had a bird that lived, this one on 16.

In addition to the aforementioned stars of the day, there many other notables, too many to mention. Including the winners, there were ten players at +4 or better. But we will note that Chuck Mathieson posted 20 points for a +5, and for his 18 holes had six birdies and a 74.

And again, SIGLers did themselves proud in another Easton CC tournament, this time the annual club championship. Congrats are in order to the SIGLers that excelled: Greg Paone took 1st place in the A flight, with Rich White 3rd. Dan Svirsky was 2nd in the B, while Mike Leonard placed 1st in C flight and TJ 3rd, and Steve Danieli was T2 in D. Nice work men.

And finally, we are now entering Week 13, and there is still a large handful of players who have not paid. We have sent out two notifications regarding payments due. If you have not yet paid, and you do not contact us between now and next Monday to make firm arrangements for payment, then don't bother showing up Tuesday. Your name will be removed from the roster and team sheet. This league is too big as it is, and we don't need to carry freeloaders to boot.

  See you next Tuesday.
