HIGHPOINTER                BOB BOURNE                     18pts.

The only thing hotter than the weather lately is the play of SIGL competitors. We had another week of superlative play with an  impressive 18 players reaching +3 or better. And we had a season-high 16 birdies and an eagle on the front. In fact, there were only two cards submitted that did not have a birdie or better on it. We're gonna have to start playing from the golds.

The premier pairing (odd couple) of the week turns out to be the wild and crazy guy John MacNeil (+5) and the mature and responsible Steve DaSaro who continues his hot play with a +4, taking 1st Team honors at +9.

The 2nd Team prize will go to Big Bill Doonan with a leading +6 and his partner Rick Keating chipping in with a solid +2. A valiant effort was made by the team of Chris Sullivan (+6) and Ted Meyer (+2), but the scorecard was not their friend, as they lost the 1st hole.

It was crowded at the top with Bill Doonan, Chris Sullivan, and Greg Willard all having super rounds, each recording six points more than their quota. In the card-off, Greg's double on 1 ousted him, and Bill's birdie on 5 secured 1st Individual with Chris taking second.

The 8th Hole is always an inviting CTP target, and this week was no different with Mr. Wayne Musgrove striping one in to 3'4" to best Joe Curtis and take the prize.

As noted, the front produced a season-high 16 birdies and an eagle. Joe Curtis rolled in a birdie four on the second hole, Billy Doonan had a pair of impressive birds on 5 and 7, and the solid Gary Russell will collect for his birdie on 6.

But the star hole of the day was produced by Young Turk Greg Willard who took the big dog out of the bag on 3 and successfully negotiated pond and trees to drive the green. Determined to take advantage, Greg coolly sunk the eagle putt to best three birdies (J. MacNeil, Fay, Bourne) already in the house. Great job, Greg!

Birdies on 4 (Keating, Raynard), and 8 (Musgrove, Walsh) did not survive, and again the 9th hole said, "Come and get me" and allowed five birdies (McGarry, Leonard, McNeice, Moore, DaSaro).

Notable scores that were not rewarded this week were posted by Mike Bradley, Terry Moore, and Bob Bourne, all at +4. (There were too many +3s to list them all.) And for the third week in a row, Bobby Bourne was highpointer, this time with 18. Bob has now posted a remarkable 55 points in the last three weeks (but still complains about his 13/14 quota.)

The back nine birdie pool will be a three-way split between Dan Svirsky on 12, Brian Murphy, making his return debut after a stint on the DL, with a bird on 14, and Ed MacNeil finishing his night off with a birdie on 18. The 16th hole was smashed (Barry, and two guys named Hrenko and Lyons.)

And finally, SIGL was again proudly represented, this time in the recent Easton CC Club Championship. In an exciting finish, Rick Keating prevailed by one stroke over fellow SIGLer Ed Finn to take the B Division crown, with Ed in sole 2nd. The C Division also produced an SIGL 1, 2 finish with Paul McDermott and Paul Begley doing the honors, and Mayhem Mike Bradley grinded his way to a 2nd place finish in D. Super job, men. Well done!

  See you next Tuesday.
