A beautiful afternoon for golf with crisply cut fairways, tough rough, but surprisingly disappointing greens. After a weekend of firm and fast, Tuesday's greens were decidely fuzzy, bumpy, and slow. It was tough to get the ball to roll true to the hole, and accordingly this was reflected in mediocre scores again.

This week, it was the Billy Doonan Show, starring Fine-Tunin' Billy Doonan. Big Bill snagged Individual with 16 points, good for a +6 and was well positioned for Team honors if his partner was any help. Instead, Team will go to the deserving partnership of Dwayne Snell at +4 and Mike Bradley at +3 for a total of +7. (Publicity hound Mayhem continues to find ways to get his name into print, so starting next week, there will be a month-long moratorium on Bradley news. If he should win anything during that time, he will be referred to as "some guy.")

On the 6th hole, Mr. Doonan striped one in nice and tight, and since he has never missed a 4' 7" putt, you know the birdie was assured. So with two strokes (his approach and putt) he earned himself an easy $62 ($25 for the Closest to Pin and $37 for the bird.) With an additional $25 for Individual honors, it was a productive day with a total of $87 in well-earned cash.

With spotty greens, there were only six birdies all night, and three that lived. Ed MacNeil, who has been battling putting woes, nonetheless drained one on 2, Rick Walsh chipped one in on the 3rd hole, and, as noted, Bill Doonan converted on 6. All birdies were in the presence of properly vetted SIGL witnessess. The 9th hole surrendered to Paul McDermott, John MacNeil, and Greg Willard.

In addition to those who won prize money, other notables include Wayne Musgrove at +5, Chris Sullivan and Greg Willard at +4,  and Eric Aronson, Dana Willard, and John Hrenko all at +3.

And finally, in the Let's Clarify an Already Very Clear Rule Dept.: If any SIGL golfer should choose to inexplicably go off as a single, especially when there is an available threesome directly behind, and turns in an official card, then I think that all sound-minded SIGLers (yeah, there are a few) would easily agree that a triple DNP is in order: Did Not Play, Do Not Pay, and Definitely Not Proper.

   See you next Tuesday.

Researchers have found that barefoot golfers are 68% more prone to violence than shod golfers. So please keep your shoes on during league play.
