Recap Week 10

We've had a run of fine weather and conditions are the best they have been all year. A tip of the cap to Matt, Ed, and the whole crew for a job well done.

For some reason we had a night of many no-shows and again scoring results on average were well below par (that means bad).

Bucking the trend though was Teddy Meyer who had his best night of the year and will be rewarded with Individual at +5. And making an impressive pairing this week are Terry Moore (+3) and Paul Raynard (+2) to garner the Team award at +5. With most of the other heavy hitters having off nights, Jared Cacciapaglia took high-pointer honors with 17 , and about the only other notable rounds were John Fay at +4 and always steady  at +2 and 17 points.

Rookie sensation Greg Paone takes the 8th Hole CTP with a nifty approach to 3 ' and has made a habit of collecting an envelope every week, and has now trails Frank Larosa while quiet John MacNeil drops to 3rd. (That's the first time ever that "quiet" and "John MacNeil" have ever been used in the same sentence.) Greg, when you get a chance, e-mail me your Social Security number so I can prepare the 1099s. Plus, Lenny didn't want me to mention this, but how about throwing the poor guy a few bucks, just for his moral support?

There were a respectable 11 birdies on the night, and I think for the first time this year, there was only one that survived. The pot will go to Frank LaRosa for his sole birdie on the 6th hole. The other ten birds were split between 2, 3, 4, 8, and 9.

      Odd and ends:

In the Easton C.C. match play tourney, played concurrently with SIGL play, congrats to T.J. James who prevailed over game fellow SIGLer Sean Costello in an exciting match that went the distance if not for a beer a hole might have beaten TJ, and a nod to Greg P. for advancing with a 2 and 1 win over promising young Sam Minsky.

As some of you may have noticed, Easton has a new hazard: It's called the front desk, "where paying is always an adventure." As they used to say at the track, "Check your ticket before leaving the window." And speaking of paying, an unfriendly reminder that second half payments are due next week: $310 with birdie pool, $290 without, and $65 to Easton members.

And finally, a Happy Birthday to Brian Murphy and Mayhem Mike Bradley; may you both have many more. And also a special shout-out to any other SIGLers who have had or will have a birthday this year.

     See you next Tuesday.
