Recap Week 13

The day started (5 AM) with thunder and lightning and 12 hours later, we had an encore right in the middle of our rounds. The bolts of lightning were intense, and were too close for comfort, so most in S.I.G.L. (Sensible, Intelligent Golf League) took refuge in the clubhouse while a few S.I.G.L.ers (Seriously Impaired Golf Lunatics) played right through the million volts of electricity like Alfred E. Neuman (What, me worry?)

Where was everybody? We had one of the  worst attendance nights since the rains in May, and one of the worst nights for scores. Last week there were 13 birdies and this week we had just three. The greens were fuzzy and slow and  apparently nobody got the ball to the hole. There were two birds on 9 and a sole birdie on 4: Terence Moore must have been inspired by the British Open in his native England as he went from winless to 4th place on the money list all with one putt.

And after a slow start to his season, what has gotten into Dave Peters lately? Another $40 night with closest to the pin on 4 (Terence says, "Thanks for missing the putt, Dave.') and leading the winning team, along with steady Eddie Finn, who was high point-getter with 16. Ed will put the dough into the tank of his Harley Road King for his trip next week to Nova Scotia, Cape Breton Island and the Cabot Trail. Safe travels, Ed. And Ted Meyer had an impressive +3 night to snag individual honors in a cardoff with Dave Peters and Dave Naimo.

In the S.I.G.L ers Are Tough To Beat Dept.:  The Easton C.C. match play tourney has reached the championship match, which, for their division, will be between T.J. James and Jim Lyons this weekend. Good luck to both.

And finally, for you guys who haven't been seen  for a few weeks, give us a call or e-mail and let us know what's going on. If it is an incarceration problem (prison, work, family), maybe we can talk to the warden (warden, boss, wife) and arrange for a Tuesday afternoon furlough under the golf-release program.
