Did everyone get the memo? We're bursting at the seams this year with 68 players, but for some reason, had 17 no shows on opening night. Do we have some no-tell dropouts? And a look at most of the scorecards would suggest that more of us should have stayed home. Out of 51 golfers, only 10 surpassed +1, and we had a bunch of sizable minus scores. It's early yet.

Willard the Elder was one of the few with a big night with a robust +4, good for 1st Individual. Chris Regan picked up where he left off and returned a strong +3 and 2nd Individual with a card-off over Rick Walsh at +3 who won the card-off for 3rd over Pete Murphy and Dan Szczurko.

But Dan's +3 was paired with Rick's +3 and that is good for 1st team honors. Chris Regan's +3 was complemented by Rich White's respectable +1 for 2nd, and a card-off win over Dana Willard +4 and alternated Ed Finn's even score, who will take 3rd Team. (With the increase in players this year, we are now paying 3 places for Individual and Team.)

It usually takes 10 feet or better on par 5 CTPs, but this week, rookie Chuck Mathieson's 25'5" proved to be good enough to earn Chuck his first envelope.

There was a modest 10 birdies on the front and all except one were on holes 3,4, and 8. So that leaves sharpshooter Mike Wall's birdie on 9 as the sole winner of the skins pot.

With 18 points, Chris Regan will take highpointer honors.

We had 27 entrants in the Back Nine skins pool but only two birdie bids found the hole, so John MacNeil on 10 and rookie Dan Raymo (14) will divvy up the $135 pot.

Easton CC has informed us that the front nine will be closed for aeration next week for most or all of the day. Therefore, SIGL league play will be on the back nine. Extra golf may be played on the back nine again, or the front if the front reopens later in the day. There will be no Back Nine skins pool. Closest to Pin will be the 13th hole (3rd shot).

Tee times: Although you cannot reserve a team for the entire year, you can reserve the time one week ahead, So for instance, when you sign in next week for Week 2, be sure to reserve your Week 3 tee time then.

And finally, we say good bye and good luck to good guys Jim Shannon, Terry Thompson, and Bob Shannon who will be moving on to greener fairways (in Rhode Island no less.) Welcome back to Jay Chapman, Greg Jurgilewicz, Pat Heffernan, and Sean Knowles, and we welcome aboard newcomers Misters Dugan, Haslam, Dejesus, Greene, Newman, Mathieson, Raymo, and Duff. (Hope I didn't miss anyone,)

  See you next Tuesday.
