            WEEK 8 CTP:     6TH HOLE

Easton's 2017 cart policy: If it's rain they're even talkin', then you definitely be walkin'.

Just when the engine was starting to purr on all cylinders, it stalled again. It's been a tough year. Sorry to all golfers who were looking forward to playing this week, but were unable to because of a questionable cart decision Tuesday. For the record, we had 28 play from a roster of 63.

There was one player, however, who was glad he decided to play. This week it was most definitely the Rich Harding Show starring Rich Harding! The most one golfer can win in one week is $210 out of a total pot of $265. Well, Mr. Harding almost ran the table, as there will be a $185 envelope awaiting him next week. Super job, Rich. (Maybe you should let Martin Enright play in your group every week.) Rich didn't want to be totally greedy so he left Closest to Pin money on the table for somebody else.

Rookie Rich had his best night of the year at +5 and his partner Willard the Elder also turned in his best card at +4 to take 1st Team at +9. As luck would have it, Rich was also 1st alternate, and accordingly, teamed up with Paul Raynard who posted a hardy (or harding) +4 to also finish at +9. Team Harding/Willard beat out Team Harding/Raynard in a card-off on the 2nd handicap hole (5th).

Mr. Harding's +5 bested a few at +4 to also take 1st Individual. Second Individual at +4 was settled between Paul Raynard, Martin Enright, Mark Nolan, and Dana Willard with Mark breaking the tie, also on the second handicap hole.

Rich generoulsy allowed someone else to share in the wealth, so Mark Nolan's brother at the bar John Tracy stepped up and striped a beauty to within 6'7" of the 4th hole to earn CTP cashola.

Even with only 28 participants, it is still surprising that there were only 3 birdies on the night. The 8th hole was smashed by Rich Harding and Mark Nolan, so that left only a bird on 6 by, you guessed it!, Rich Harding to take the hole darn pot; the second week in a row that there has been a sole birdie winner.  (Rich earned back 30% of his entire year's dues in one productive night.)

Other notable performers not mentioned above include Dan Szczurko and Jim Lyons at +3, and Mark Spears and Paul McDermott at +2. Highpointers for the night were Jim Lyons and Steve Peterson at 14.

And finally, your assignment this week, at least for those of you who take a cart, is to say a daily novena and pray that we don't get rain within three days of our next appointed round.

  See you next Tuesday.

                                         NO CARTS TODAY

                                         OKAY, NOW THAT MAKES SENSE
