    WEEK 16 CTP:     9TH HOLE

Never in the illustrious history of this league have we had a better collective scoring performance, as it seemed that everyone and his brother was lighting it up. I wasn't able to play so I don't know: Did they temporarily enlarge the holes or something?

On a typical night, there were many worthy candidates who could have been star of the day, but this week it took an extra super performance to earn that honor, and that belongs to young buck Ryan Burke who broke out with an all-time record tying 22 points. Ryan was already having a great round through eight holes, when he really finished with a flourish by eagling the 9th, to finish with a record-breaking +13 to take Individual. And it's only fitting that Ed MacNeil (+4), as an alternate, would be paired up with Ryan to take the Team prize at +17.

Closest to the Pin on the 8th hole goes to steady Ed Finn, who striped one in to 6'2", and naturally sunk the birdie putt.

There were an impressive 16 birdies on the night, in addition to the eagle, but again only two that will pay. Bob Loring will collect for his bird on 2, and of course Ryan Burke will get rewarded for his eagle on the 9th, which topped four birdies on that hole. Birds on 3,4,5, and 8 were smashed.

Dan Svirsky also had a career night with a 36, three straight birdies (3,4,5), 21 points and a +10. On almost any other night EVER that would have been easily enough to win but not this week. (Sometimes life just ain't fair Dan.) Also turning in a super round was the recently retired John MacNeil who also had three birds, and 19 points, +7.

Other notables include Scott Hzurd at +6, and Mark Nolan and Dan Szczurko at +4. In addition, there were seven more players at +3. (Hey, no more complaining about your quota being too high!)

And finally, at the three quarter pole, we have distributed $3,194 to 42 out of 54 active members. To date, the top ten earners are:

         McDermott     $237                     Doonan       $159
         Barry                222                      Lima             155
         Finn                  173                      Hrenko         153
         Burke               170                      Curtis            148
         Thompson        160                      Loring           135

  See you next Tuesday.
