The finals of the Judge Smails Cup is set with McNeice and Peters taking on Peterson and Silvia.
McNeice/Peters took on E.MacNeil/Turchette with Turchette trying to carry his wounded partner, but it was to much as McNeice/Peters both played steady and closed out the match on the 8th hole. Peters gets another shot at the cup having fallen short 2 years ago. McNeice is a former champion and wants the cup back in his hands.
Congrats to Dave Peters for winning his Easton C.C. match play tourney for his flight, and to partner Mike McNeice for being in the final for his flight, in addition to them being in the Smails final. Tip to everyone: Don't play these guys in match play!
Guyder/Lacasse hung tough against Silvia/Peterson as the match was all square after 5 but the duo dinged in donged to take 6, 7, and 8 to end the match and the hopes of hoisting the cup.
Mark Nolan took the birdie pool with a birdie on 8 and if not for Larosa and Bradley missing makeable putts of within 6 feet the pool would have had it's first carry over. The one birdie lifted Nolan to the top 6 of the money board.
Rick Walsh joined the hole in one club last weekend when his 160 yard 7 iron on the 10th hole at Blue Rock Golf Course hopped twice and jumped in the hole. Echos of Bill Murray "it's in the hole" could be heard throughout the course. Rick magnanimously informed the bartender of his impressive feat and set up the bar.
I'm happy to be back after a 3 week layoff. It's a crazy game as I had my best round. The round of the day goes to Greg Willard who finished 1 over par and a sizzling 19 points with 2 birdies.
A get well goes out to our friendly neighborhood bartender Obo. The 19th hole is not the same without you. Eddie Munster is just not cutting it.
