I’m just back from Myrtle Beach
or as I like to call it Mecca
where alligators like to watch you tee off which helps keep up the pace of
play. Our good friend Dave Peters knows all about gators as I heard he has a couple in his backyard. Feeling good about my game and thinking about the $200 up for grabs in
the birdie pool turned into a disaster. It’s like playing in a scramble when
you don’t play your game and just try to hit it as far as you can “come back
little Sheba” and when you do get on the green in regulation your telling
yourself don’t leave the birdie putt short and of course it goes by the hole
and turns birdie into bogie. The league is all about birdies and the 2 members
that are sharing the pot are Ed MacNeil(6) and John
Tracy (8) each collect $100. Tough luck losers were TJ and B.Willard who knocked
each other out on 2 and John Fay...John MacNeil (4). The 6 birdies were all the league could conjure up. Steve
Lozzi takes the CTP on 6 with 17’9”.
Ed Finn showed up only to find out the rest of his group
didn’t, but played with the MacNeil brothers both have that Irish whisper going for them. Ed jumps to the top
of the money leader board.
I was ready to go in the clubhouse when the Williard
brothers looked stunned and confused and I told them I’d take there scorecard. I
had to pry it out of his hands only to find out that Blake had his round of the
year and wanted to frame the card. Blake takes home top and team honors with
his 17pts and good for +6. Dwayne Snell tagged along for the ride and also
collected.
Those of you looking for a beverage including the empty
shack on 2 were out of luck. The shack is there just for show. I saw a cat
fight in the bar area between Rosie, Andrea and the snack girl…”my money was on
Andrea by the way” on who should go out and quench the thirst of the SIGL’ers.
There were no winners Rosie went to the parking lot and smoked a pack of
cigarettes, the snack girl went home, which left Andrea to tend bar.
The list was up on the post to sign if you are not playing
in the year end and just 3 players signed it. Next week is the last week of the
season with the tourney on Sunday the 22nd @11:00. There’s lots of
cash to be had. They’ll be 2 birdie pools one where all birdies pay and the
other knockout pool.
See y'all next Tuesday
