WEEK 11 CTP 3RD HOLE
The week off was apparently great for our golf game, as we resumed our hot play. Even with quotas going up, most players continue to exceed expectations, with a ton of great scores and only 12 SIGLers failing to reach quota.
After a nondescript start to the season, Wayne Musgrove has recently been playing out of his mind, following his 17 pt. performance two weeks ago with an SIGL season high 20 pts. this week, and collecting cash for the last three weeks. Wayne's +9 will easily take 1st Individual, and will lead the way to a 1st Team win
with worthy partner Dan McGarry and his fine +3.
Equally resurgent is Mr. Musgrove's playing partner John Tracy who continues to shine with three straight impressive and winning weeks, this time taking 2nd Individual with a great +6, prevailing in a card-off over Mike McNeice's own super +6. The card was also kind to John and his partner Ted Meyer (+3) as they bested the team of McNeice and Joe Curtis for 2nd Team, who had their own outstanding +9.
It was nice to see Mike Nolan get rewarded for his outstanding approach on the 2nd Hole to 7'3" which was good enough to take Closest to Pin honors. Starting this week, we will be adding the 3rd Hole (second shot) to the CTP rotation. With the inviting forward tee box location apparently here for a while, there should be plenty of tight approaches.
And it was also nice to see fellow SIGLers give Bob Loring a surprise birthday present this week by all competitors failing to birdie 8, allowing Bob's circled 3 to take the entire $110 pot, putting the pride of St. Mary's on the money list for the first time this year. (Also, happy birthday this week to TJ, and to any other SIGLers who have a birthday this week, month, or year.)
Birdies that did not survive include 3 (Hrenko, Musgrove), 4 (McNeice, Curtis), 5 (Musgrove, Peterson), and 9 (Finn, Mark Nolan).
After also being shut out to date this year, John Hrenko quickly changed that with one sweet birdie putt on the 14th hole, which earned him the entire carryover back nine skins pool of $230, and
rocketing him to first on the money list at the turn. Nice job, Johnny. Smashed birdies were on 13 (White, Leonard) and 16 (McGarry, Russell).
For the second week in a row, Wayne Musgrove takes highpointer accolades, this time with a mighty 20 pts. Notable performances that did not cash include Mike McNeice at +6, James, White, and Peterson at +4, and Bourne, Payne, Leach, and Curtis at +3.
The second half of the season begins next week, so please don't forget your checkbook or hard cash ($325 or $65).
And a special tip of the cap to Rich White, who recently pulled off a feat that is even impressive for a pro (Rich maintains his amatuer status) by birdieing five, count 'em five, holes in a row in a recent non-SIGL round at Easton. Good stuff.
