WEEK 6 CTP: 2ND HOLE
Tuesday was the longest day of daylight of the year, so many of us certainly got our money's worth, with one group getting in 33 holes. Not only was alot of golf played, but alot of good golf was played. For the night, there were only 14 golfers who failed to meet their quota. (You know who you are.) And there was a very impressive 25 golfers who were plus 2 or better. And you guys complain about your quota being too high?
We had four players tie at the top for Individual at +5: Terry Moore, Mike McNeice, Ted Meyer, and Jim Lyons. Based on a card-off and Jim's par on 7, he will take First, with Mike McNeice winning the 2nd place prize. Well done by all.
We had to go to the card again to settle Team honors: Team Terry (Moore +5 and Thompson +3) equaled the + 8 produced by Jim Lyons (+5) and Ed Reagan's fine +3. Jim's par on 5 gave his team the edge for 1st place.
A dozen birdies were produced for the night, and three of them will pay-off. After struggling for a while, Mike Bradley will happily accept $40 for his neat birdie on 3. Joe Curtis got on the money board with his bird on 4, and Mike McNeice rebounded nicely from last week's disappointing round with a paying birdie on 6. The 8th hole (Raynard, Lyons, Musgrove, J. MacNeil) and the 9th (Peterson, Moore, Thompson, Frasca, Finn) were thoroughly covered as usual.
Titanic Terry Thompson reached the 9th hole in two, and had himself a 30 foot look at eagle. He got the putt to 4 '4" which was good enough to beat out Ed Finn's 6 ft. for Closest to Pin.
As noted, alot of good golf was played, so other notables who did not cash include Ed Finn and Paul Raynard at +4, and Lozzi, D. Willard, Musgrove, Frasca, Paone, and Tracy, all at +3. Highpointers for the night were Mike McNeice and Terry Thompson at 16.
Odd and ends: 1) As a reminder, there will be no league golf on July 4th, 2) TJ's back nine birdie pool will begin next week, and 3) John MacNeil, pick up your envelope or your cash will be donated
to The Little Sisters of the Poor.
See you next Tuesday.
Good golf tip I read this week: Block out everything around you, and focus only on the shot at hand.
