Recap Week 8

Another nice night at Easton, the greens were running fast and smooth, and we had a bunch of good scores and birdies.

Johnny Fay had his best night of the year with a +6 and teamed up with steady Greg Jurgilewicz to earn team honors at +10. (Sorry Scott, we lost the tiebreaker.)  Mark Spears had an impressive 16 points for a +6 and it was good to see Jim Thompson return to action with 13 points good for a +5. Welcome back, Jim.  And this humble hacker had it going with a 35, good for a Rich McKenna-like 21 points and a +8 that snagged the individual prize.

Bob Frick won a bunch of dough with only two strokes: His tee shot on the 4th was good for closest to the pin for $20, his 8' birdie putt was good for $30 and he won $7.50 in skins and goodies from his foursome. What a country.

Jurgy came out of the gate quick with a birdie on the 1st,  and Paul McDermott continues to know how get birdies that live by picking up one on the second hole. All other birdies were covered.

For those who signed up, after golf we had a great steak dinner with the Lombardi Leaugue that everyone seemed to enjoy. We're going to do the same thing on July 10th, this time having barbequed ribs. We'll put out a sign-up sheet next week. I think the cost will be $15.

Arithmetic 101: We're starting to get too many cards turned in where the quota points are not tallied correctly. Take the time to do it right. Starting next week, if you turn in a card in which you overreported the actual amount of points you got, your score will be discarded. You are responsible for your own score no matter who is scoring.

And finally, miracle of miracles, Bino was spared the knife last week. As he was laying on a gurney and hooked up to an IV, John informed the good doctor that after all this rest from work and golf that his neck felt alot better. On the spot, the doctor cancelled, or at least postponed, the surgery. Relief !! (There's no truth to the rumor that the surgeon's 10 o'clock tee time that morning had anything to do with his decision.) Bino is still going to be out of action for a while, and he really misses you jokers on Tuesday nights.

This is how it really happened
I was laying on the gurney as the surgery kept getting pushed back. My nurse had to go to lunch so they called in the receptionist with no experience to put the IV in me…. after using my arm as a pin cushion I started to see dead people. Next was a scene out of Airplane where they all lined up to slap me around to see if they could get one of my collapsed veins to reappear. Finally I get hooked up and waited for the good stuff to start dripping when the doctor comes in and asked how I felt. Not working for a month will cure a lot of pain. He decided not to do it…and like the roadrunner I grabbed my belongings and raced out of there.
Bottom Line….Work→Bad…..Golf→Good
The End
Bino

PS Thank You for all the well wishes and hope to be back on the course soon
