Believe it or not, only 11 golfers met or exceeded quota, and no one had a breakout night. All it took to win Team was a +1, which was done by steady Steve Lozzi (+1) and steadier Mike McNeice (E). Ed MacNeil and Mike Kelly led the pack for Individual at +3, with Easy Ed taking the cake on a card off.
T.J. went out early and posted 6' 9" on the 2nd hole, and no one was able to add to the list, so T hangs on for Closest to the Pin.
We had a respectable 12 birdies, but, as usual, we beat the 8 and 9th holes into a bloody pulp for nine of those, which leaves only three that will pay off: Always trying to outdo his brother, Johnny MacNeil came out fast and strong with a birdie on 1, Mike Kelly continues his late season money surge with a bird on 3, and Ed Finn, playing his 5th straight day after playing 108 holes in four days of New Hampshire golf along with seven other SIGL ne'er do wells, drained a beauty of a downhiller on the 6th to stay atop the leader board just ahead of the pesky Johnny Mac.
Other notables include high-pointer Greg Paone at 17 points, and his partner Len Lima, and resurgent Jim Egan at +2 each. Based on performance, most of the rest of you will be relieved that you are not mentioned.
And finally, a Happy Birthday shout-out today to the big guy, Sean Costello, who won't say how old he is, but will say that he is like a snow plow: he's got a lot of hard miles on him.
See you next Tuesday.
