Recap Week 10

A beautiful night at Easton, good turnout, and some really good golf was played, with a season high 15 birdies.

Round of the night goes to Ed Finn who had a 37/77 for 18 points and a $45 birdie, not to mention taking some extra cash from his playing victims, I mean, partners. His bird on 2 rattled back and forth twice before settling in at the bottom of the cup. At least he didn't give a concussion to any animals like he did Saturday at Lakeville, where he holed his putt on the 7th only to conk a toad in the head who was hanging out in the hole, and squishing the poor little critter into the flagstick hole. But with his Pied Piper-like touch and strong fingers, Ed inticed him out of the hole. St. Andrew's may have the Road Hole, but who ever heard of a Toad Hole?  He was last seen hopping his way toward the 8th tee.

Also impressive was Eric Aronson who was +6, good enough for individual honors and a birdie that lived and John DiSilvestro at +5 winning team honors with a steady Tommy James and closest to the pin on the 8th.  John, who seems to be making the most of retirement, started off with a bang by birdieing the 1st, but it was later covered.

Of the 15 birdies, only two lived: Ed on 2 and  Eric on 3.  Birdies on 1, 4, 5, 8, and 9 were all covered. Two birds each by Blake Willard and this humble hacker went for naught.  Impressive rounds by players that didn't cash include Blake at +5  and 17 points, and Chris Sullivan at +3. Bino survived another week of work and came through with a +4. The neck has forced him to play by Julius Boros' motto: Swing easy, hit hard. Who knew?

The ribs dinner is planned for next Tuesday after golf. If you haven't signed up yet but want to attend, please e-mail me (larrybarry@verizon.net) by Friday.

ATTENTION:  The second half payment is due next week: $305.  Please pay on time.

Also, our condolesences go out to Frank LaRosa and his family for their recent loss.

And finally, to all the Americans in the league, have a safe and happy Fourth of July. Please use caution when handling caps, firecrackers, sparklers, bottle rockets, electric vibrators near the pool, Roman candles, TNT, and surface-to-air missiles. You can still have fun without someone losing an eye.
