Update

Once again foiled by mother nature, so we will continue on next Tuesday with the 1st round and the chase for the coveted Judge Smails Cup. Hopefully everyone understands how to play match play, if not ask. There is a correction in last weeks winnings as Ed Finn had a birdie on the 6th hole, the adjustment has been made in the Year to Date leader board.
The pairings for the tournament have been updated with who is getting shots, so look at the match ups again and read at the bottom of the page for further info.
I'm going to confession to confess all my sins, so maybe he'll give us a break and we can finish the season without anymore rain outs.

Recap Week 10

I got to the course with rain gear in hand just in case. I interrupted this blog with breaking news. Ippolito gets a par and is on the money board. Back to the blog. Barry continues to get back to his old self by playing some solid golf and collecting top individual and team honors. McKenna takes his place back on top of the money board. McNeice shoots a sizzling 77 with 3 birdies on the back nine. Ed MacNeil keeps Mike Barry off the money board by sneaking inside his closest to the pin shot. The Judge Smails Cup tournament begins on the 28th and the match ups have been posted. I will put in parenthesis how many shots you are getting next to your name. This is match play and weekly prizes are still in effect, so make sure you circle your birdies and putt out for points....there are no gimmies. We have hit the second half of the year so money is due, if you have not paid see Larry or Bino. Don't be alarmed when you see a cart racing toward you, it's only Frank looking for 2nd half birdie money. I'll make everything clear about the tournament for the new members in the league in next weeks recap.
Good Luck to Rich McKenna and his son playing in a father son tournament in golfs Mecca...Myrtle Beach.

Recap Week 9

I've come to the conclusion I'm not a good rain player. 17 brave souls went out to give it a go while mother nature refuses to give us a decent day to play. The MacNeils play like they are late for an appointment as they were left to play as a twosome and dared the lightning to strike them zipping around the course in record time. The shot of the day goes to Frank Larosa on the 5th hole, after hitting his second shot into the brook took a drop and holed out from 135 yards for a ho hum par. The 7th hole saw a little wackiness as my group got to the tee when we see Larry's group drive up after stopping for the lightning wanted to finish their round. A new member took exception to this and doesn't know the rule that LB is the leader of our little cult and to step aside and shut your big yapper.
Stephanick's group were determined to play after missing the last non rain-out and are glad they did as Stephanick's birdie on 9 took the birdie pool and Moser seemed to like the rain, had his best round of the year to take top and team honors to get on the money board. This group played extra holes and petered out on 15, two of them layed up on the 14, which is not a good move on a par 3.
A happy 50th birthday goes out to a good guy Rich McKenna who still scores like a 30 year old
(and his golf game ain't bad either.)
